Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving

Weaving is the new knitting! Not really, of course, but it is a lot of fun and exciting to do. And weaving on a rigid heddle loom is a great way to get your toes wet. Incredibly versatile, yet simple to use, these looms are ideal for space challenged NYC apartments!

In this 6-hour, two part class you will learn all the basics from setting up the loom and getting ready to weave through to different finishing techniques to complete your project. Students will make a plaid scarf projects pictured as their project for the class.

Class is 2 1/2 -3 hours each session. Students should expect to spend 3-6 hours working at home on their project in preparation for the second class.

MATERIALS:
2 colors of worsted weight smooth wool yarn. All yarn must be wound prior to the start of class - please arrive to the first class 15-20 minutes early to choose your yarn or stop by before the class.
Large Ikea bag, or other tote bag for taking loom home with you.

LOOM RENTAL FEE:
There is a $30 loom rental fee which will be applied to the purchase of a loom if it is purchased during the class. You must provide a credit card number that will be charged for the full cost of the loom in the event that the loom is not returned on time or is damaged.
